Mermaid in the Sand
(see comment for image an tribute)
Yesterday morning walking on Fingal Bay beach,
the sun on my back was also playing with sand and sea.
Some waves bigger than others got me wet to my knees,
forcing me to jump and move aside to protect my camera.
Then after the ebb, in front of me, naked on the beach,
the sweetest creature I'd ever seen, even in my dreams.
Her back was so perfect, her color was that of the rocks and sand,
the most beautiful and strange legs I've never shot.
By the time I pressed the trigger the tide had pushed me down,
rolling down, rolling up, swallowing sand and salted water.
Getting out of the curl, grabbing my broken camera,
I discovered that I was alone. The beauty was gone.
This morning, a miracle happened, only one image was saved,
the last I took. The mermaid I saw, goes out from Silicon.
